Pre-Net Worth Tracking Days
I thought I'll include the amount we saved over time so as to not shock readers that we're suddenly ~$1m Net Worth.
Unfortunately we did not track the other assets during this time. At week 0, we already had 4 positively geared properties although in 2016 we had ~200k in savings.
Initially we were barely neutrally geared but we knew we can use our high income and low expense (52 week average of ~69% savings rate which is ~114k/year). This caused a massive snowball effect in that we were able to offset the loan amount such that we were massive positively geared that the rental income covered all property expenses and our personal expenses too. By the start of 2020, savings rate was >100% (52 week savings rate of 100% of our 9-5 income plus some of our passive income) which was 175-200k.
We have now ceased tracking this by itself as we have started investing into ETFs.
